What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Swim Head Coach at Virgin Active South Africa, based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. You will lead the Virgin Active Chad Le Clos Swim Academy, helping swimmers of all levels improve their skills and reach their full potential. The role focuses on creating a high-performance swimming environment while ensuring a great experience for members and swimmers.

What you will do

You will manage and lead the competitive swimming program at the club. This includes coaching swimmers at all levels, from beginners to elite athletes, and developing training programs that follow the Chad Le Clos coaching framework. You will track swimmer progress, attendance, and performance, and provide regular feedback to swimmers and their parents. Additionally, you will organize and encourage participation in swimming competitions, galas, and events. You will also manage assistant coaches, ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and work closely with club management to meet business and program goals.

What you need

You must have a Matric or NSC certificate and a Swimming South Africa Level 1 Coaching Qualification or higher. A valid First Aid and CPR/AED certification is required. You need at least 2 years of swimming coaching experience, preferably in a club or academy setting. Strong communication, organizational, and administrative skills are essential. You should also have a good understanding of pool safety, hygiene, and safeguarding requirements. Experience leading a swimming program or managing other coaches is a plus.
