What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Head Swim Coach at Virgin Active South Africa, based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. You will lead the Virgin Active Chad Le Clos Swim Academy, helping swimmers of all levels improve their skills and reach their full potential in a supportive and high-performance environment.

What you will do

You will manage and deliver the competitive swimming program at the club level, following the Virgin Active and Chad Le Clos standards. Your role includes coaching swimmers from beginners to elite levels, creating training programs, and tracking their progress. You will also organize swimming events, manage assistant coaches, and ensure all safety and operational rules are followed. Additionally, you will work with club management to grow membership, increase revenue, and maintain accurate records.

What you need

You must have a Matric or NSC certificate, a Swimming South Africa Level 1 Coaching Qualification (or higher), and valid First Aid and CPR/AED certification. At least 2 years of coaching experience, preferably in a club or academy, is required. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills are essential, along with a passion for swimming and wellness. Experience managing teams and understanding pool safety is also important.
