What the job is

This is a position for an Exercise Experience Manager at Virgin Active South Africa, based in Outer West Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on creating a welcoming and exciting fitness community where members feel motivated to reach their health and wellness goals. The job involves leading a team of fitness professionals to deliver engaging and personalized fitness experiences that align with Virgin Active’s energetic and adventurous brand.

What you will do

You will recruit, train, and manage a team of fitness and group exercise instructors, ensuring they are well-prepared and motivated to deliver high-quality classes. You will build a strong sense of community among members and instructors by organizing events, promoting group exercise classes, and ensuring the studio and equipment are always in top condition. You will also analyze class attendance data to improve offerings, market fitness programs to attract and retain members, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety in all exercise spaces. Additionally, you will lead by example by teaching classes and ensuring every member feels supported in their wellness journey.

What you need

You must have a Matric qualification and a recognized fitness qualification, along with at least 5 years of experience in the fitness industry and 3 years in managing exercise experiences or similar roles. You also need at least 2-3 years of experience managing teams, strong leadership skills, and a passion for the wellness industry. Experience in teaching various group exercise classes and working in a health or wellness club is highly preferred. You should be a great communicator, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning and growth.
