What the job is

This is a full-time position for an Exercise Experience Manager at Virgin Active South Africa, based in Outer West Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on creating a welcoming and energetic fitness community where members feel motivated to reach their wellness goals. You will work to ensure members have fun, personalized fitness experiences that keep them engaged and excited to return.

What you will do

You will recruit, train, and manage a team of fitness and group exercise instructors, ensuring they deliver high-quality classes and experiences. Your responsibilities include building a strong fitness community, organizing events like FITFEST and DJ nights, and maintaining clean, well-equipped exercise spaces. You will also track class attendance, promote fitness programs, and use data to improve offerings. Additionally, you will handle member inductions, support instructors with their development, and ensure all health and safety standards are met.

What you need

You must have a Matric qualification and a recognized fitness qualification. At least 5 years of experience in the fitness industry is required, with 3 years in managing exercise experiences and 2-3 years in leading teams. Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills are essential. You should also have experience teaching various group exercise classes and a passion for the wellness industry.
