What the job is

This is a Deputy Unit Manager position in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Melomed Private Hospitals SA, located in the Western Cape. The role involves supporting the management of the ICU team and ensuring high standards of patient care in a private hospital setting.

What you will do

You will manage the staffing needs of the ICU, including hiring and training new employees. You will evaluate staff performance and ensure nursing standards are met through ongoing training. You will maintain a professional demeanor while ensuring excellent patient care and enforcing health and safety rules. You will also keep accurate records, manage stock, and implement hospital policies.

What you need

You must have a professional nursing qualification and a diploma or certificate in general critical care. You need at least five years of experience in a leadership or shift leader role in an ICU. Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) and proof of indemnity cover are required. Strong communication, leadership skills, and a pleasant attitude are essential. Having your own transport and the ability to work flexible shifts is an advantage.
