What the job is

This is a contract position for a Data Engineer specializing in Microsoft Fabric at iOCO, based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The role is part of the Data & Analytics team and focuses on building and maintaining data solutions for the organization.

What you will do

You will design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions using Microsoft Fabric. This includes working with tools like Fabric Data Factory, OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, and Fabric Notebooks. You will build and optimize ETL/ELT processes, ingest data from various sources, and transform, clean, and validate data for reporting and analytics. You will also develop solutions using SQL, Python, or PySpark, implement data quality and governance processes, and support Power BI reporting solutions. Additionally, you will collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs, troubleshoot pipeline issues, and maintain technical documentation.

What you need

You should have a relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with proven experience as a Data Engineer. Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric, data integration, ETL/ELT development, SQL, Python, and PySpark is required. Knowledge of Data Lakes, Lakehouses, Data Warehouses, and data modeling principles is essential. Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Power BI, and CI/CD processes is advantageous. You should also have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with both technical and business teams.
