What the job is

This is a Business / Data Analyst position at iOCO, a technology company based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The role is a 12-month contract and focuses on working with data contracts, data lineage, and data integration across various projects.

What you will do

You will work closely with Solution and Data Architects to define and document how data is structured, exchanged, and integrated across systems. You will create and maintain data contracts between systems, applications, and data platforms. You will map and document end-to-end data flows, including sources, transformations, and target systems. You will analyze existing data flows to identify gaps, dependencies, and risks. You will also document data integration requirements, interfaces, and transformation rules. Additionally, you will facilitate discussions between business, architecture, development, and data teams to ensure everyone understands data needs. You will translate business and technical requirements into clear data specifications and support the definition of data standards and governance. You will maintain accurate documentation of system integrations and assist project teams in understanding the impact of changes.

What you need

You need proven experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or Technical Business Analyst in complex technology environments. You must have strong practical experience with data contracts and defining agreements between data producers and consumers. A strong understanding of data lineage and the ability to document data movement from source to consumption is required. You should be able to analyze and document data integrations across multiple systems and platforms. Knowledge of technical architecture, APIs, databases, data pipelines, and integration patterns is essential. You must have experience creating data mappings, interface specifications, and technical documentation. Strong requirements gathering, analysis, and stakeholder engagement skills are a must. Excellent documentation and communication skills, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, are also required. Experience with cloud-based data platforms, modern data architectures, and tools like Visio or Confluence is advantageous.
