What the job is

This is a Testing Standards Officer Pilot position at the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) based in Centurion, Gauteng. The role focuses on ensuring that all pilot licensing standards and regulations are followed correctly. You will work closely with flight examiners, instructors, and training organizations to maintain high safety and compliance standards in aviation.

What you will do

You will oversee the licensing process for all aircrew, including pilots and flight instructors. This includes checking that flight examiners and training centers meet the required standards. You will monitor the conduct and ethics of instructors and examiners, and take action if rules are broken. You will also help develop and update aviation regulations and technical standards to align with international guidelines. Additionally, you will conduct audits, inspections, and investigations to ensure compliance, and provide technical support to other departments and industry stakeholders. You will design training and testing standards, review curricula, and communicate with the aviation industry to improve safety and standards.

What you need

You must have a Grade 12 certificate and a Commercial Pilot License (Helicopter) with a Grade II Instructor Rating, or an equivalent South African Air Force Flight Instructor Rating. Ideally, you should have an Airline Transport Pilot License (Helicopter) with a Grade I Flight Instructor Rating or a South African Air Force Grade A Instructor Rating. You also need at least 300 hours of experience as a Grade 2 Flight Instructor. Knowledge of training and training administration is a plus.
