What the job is

This is a Pastry Chef position at Royal Bafokeng Administration, based in Rustenburg, North West. The role is part of the hospitality industry and involves working in a professional kitchen to create high-quality baked goods and pastries.

What you will do

You will prepare a wide variety of baked goods and pastries, including decorating and presenting them attractively. You will monitor and order ingredients, supplies, and equipment while ensuring the process remains cost-effective. You will respond to customer requests for custom desserts or baked goods for special occasions. You will ensure the bakery section follows all health and safety regulations. Additionally, you will develop new seasonal recipes and menus, stay updated with the latest trends, and collaborate with the Sous Chef and Chef De Partie to coordinate daily tasks.

What you need

You must have a Post Matric or Higher Certificate in Bakery or Culinary studies. A degree in Bakery or Culinary will be an advantage. You need registration or certification with a relevant professional body, if applicable. You must have at least 2 years of experience cooking in a well-established restaurant or full-service hotel. You should have in-depth knowledge of food preparation, storage, sanitation, and health and safety regulations. You must also be familiar with kitchen equipment and menu creation.
