What the job is

This is a full-time Operations Manager position at BDO South Africa, based in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). The role involves leading and managing non-assurance teams to ensure they deliver high-quality services and meet business goals. You will work closely with senior management and UK stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and operational excellence.

What you will do

You will oversee the daily operations of non-assurance teams, ensuring efficient service delivery and compliance with company policies and regulations. You will monitor team performance, identify risks, and implement improvements to processes and controls. Additionally, you will design and run training programs, mentor staff, and handle performance reviews and feedback. You will also manage leave requests, prepare reports, and act as the main contact between senior management, UK stakeholders, and the teams. Recruitment support for non-assurance roles is also part of the job.

What you need

You must be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) registered with SAICA and have at least 4 years of post-articles experience. Strong skills in stress management, meeting deadlines, and working under pressure are required. Excellent written and spoken English, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. You should have experience in management, project management, and mentoring junior staff. Flexibility in working hours, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality are also important.
