What the job is

BDO South Africa is looking for a Finance Accountant in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) to manage the company’s internal finances. This role involves overseeing financial reporting, budgets, and supplier relationships. While some accounting tasks are outsourced, you will ensure accuracy and provide financial insights to support business decisions.

What you will do

You will review monthly financial reports to check for accuracy and completeness. You will analyze financial results, prepare budgets, and forecast cash flow to help the business plan ahead. You will manage supplier contracts, monitor spending, and ensure cost control. You will also work with outsourced payroll teams to verify payroll costs and resolve any accounting issues. Additionally, you will support business leaders with financial advice and help improve financial processes.

What you need

You need experience in preparing management accounts, handling VAT returns, and understanding basic corporate tax principles. Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and cloud-based accounting systems like Xero are required. You should have a good grasp of financial controls, reconciliations, and cash flow management. Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
