What the job is

The Department of Health in Gauteng is hiring Lecturers (PND-1 and PND-2 levels) for the Gauteng College of Nursing at the Bonalesedi Campus. This role involves teaching and training student nurses in a professional and structured environment. The position is part of the Nursing Education and Training Directorate and is based in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

What you will do

You will provide education and training to student nurses and coordinate their clinical learning between the campus and healthcare facilities. You will implement assessment strategies to evaluate student competencies and manage student databases. Additional duties include planning and delivering academic programs, using various teaching methods to achieve learning outcomes, accompanying students during clinical rotations, and participating in nursing research and community engagement activities. You will also support the college’s mission and vision while ensuring continuous professional development in nursing education.

What you need

For PND-1, you need a Matric certificate, a Diploma or Degree in Nursing (R.425) or equivalent, allowing registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife. You must also have a Diploma or Degree in Nursing Education registered with SANC, current SANC registration, at least 4 years of nursing experience, a valid driver’s license, and certificates in Assessor and Moderator roles. Computer literacy and strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are required. For PND-2, you need 14 years of nursing experience, with at least 10 years in nursing education after obtaining a post-basic qualification.
