What the job is

This is a position for an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Specialist Doctor at Tambo Memorial Hospital, which is run by the Gauteng Department of Health. The job is based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The hospital is looking for a qualified medical specialist to join their Otolaryngology team and help provide high-quality healthcare services.

What you will do

You will provide expert medical care in ENT, ensuring surgeries and treatments meet performance targets and follow the Batho-Pele Principles. You will train and guide medical interns, officers, and other staff. You will keep accurate health records and develop skills in research and teaching within the department. You will also handle administrative tasks, manage stock, and follow financial and supply chain rules. Additionally, you will promote continuous medical education through tutorials and meetings.

What you need

You must have an MBBCHB or MBCHB degree, an FCORL qualification, and an MMED in ENT. You must be registered with the HPCSA as an independent ENT Specialist. For Grade 1, no experience is needed after registration. For Grade 2, you need at least 5 years of experience as a specialist. For Grade 3, you need at least 10 years of experience. You must have strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, and be able to work under pressure. Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) are required.

What you will get

The pay rate is R671.00 per hour for Grade 1, R766.00 per hour for Grade 2, and R887.00 per hour for Grade 3. This is a session-based position, and the hospital encourages applications from all qualified candidates, including people with disabilities.
