What the job is

This is a Kitchen Supervisor position at Empact Group, based in Pretoria, Gauteng. The role involves managing the kitchen operations for Empact Group Food Solutions, ensuring that food preparation and service run smoothly and efficiently.

What you will do

You will oversee the daily production in the kitchen to make sure everything runs without problems. You will maintain the same quality and taste for all menu items every time they are prepared. You will help monitor the kitchen inventory and report any needs to the catering manager. You will ensure proper portion control, food preparation, and storage to avoid waste and reduce costs. You will assist in food production areas with basic food preparation as required by the menu. You will complete paperwork such as reproduction sheets, wastage records, and cleaning logs. You will help with regular stock checks and maintain temperature records, reporting any issues. You will analyze and manage all costs within the kitchen unit. You will record and minimize food wastage. You will support, train, and develop the kitchen team and assist colleagues with other duties when needed.

What you need

You must have a Matric certificate. You must have a relevant tertiary qualification in food and beverage services or culinary arts. You need at least 2 years of experience in kitchen or progressive management. Experience with stock control, ordering, and receiving is required. Experience in healthcare catering is a plus. You should have knowledge of different catering environments, from fine dining to restaurant dining. You must understand South African and industry-specific laws. Strong management and communication skills are essential. You should be computer literate.
