What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Financial Crimes Manager at Botswana Savings Bank in Gaborone, Botswana. The role focuses on identifying, assessing, and preventing financial crimes such as fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing to protect the bank and its customers.

What you will do

You will develop and implement the bank’s Financial Crime Risk Management Framework, including strategies, policies, and procedures to prevent financial crimes. You will oversee anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, and fraud investigations, ensuring compliance with laws like the Financial Intelligence Act and FATF Recommendations. You will lead complex financial crime investigations, manage regulatory reporting, and coordinate with law enforcement and regulators. You will also assess risks, monitor transactions, and train staff on financial crime awareness. Additionally, you will act as the main contact for regulatory bodies and ensure the bank meets all legal requirements.

What you need

You need a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Criminology, Law, Finance, Banking, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is a plus. Professional certifications like ACAMS, CFE, CFCS, ICA Diploma in AML, or PRMIA Financial Crime Certification are advantageous. You must have at least 8–10 years of experience in AML/CFT, Compliance, Financial Crime, or Fraud Risk Management, with 3–5 years in a leadership role. Experience in banking or financial services, as well as working with regulators and law enforcement, is essential.
