What the job is

This is a full-time position for the Head of Retail Banking and Sales at Botswana Savings Bank, based in Gaborone, Botswana. The role involves leading and managing the bank’s retail network to achieve growth, profitability, and excellent customer service.

What you will do

You will work with senior management to set sales targets based on market trends and customer needs. You will create and implement sales plans, marketing campaigns, and strategies to improve product offerings. You will monitor sales data, customer feedback, and market research to identify underperforming products and recommend improvements or phase-outs. You will oversee retail banking operations, including staff training, branch performance, and customer service standards. You will also manage budgets, expand the branch network, and ensure all transactions and customer queries are handled efficiently and securely.

What you need

You must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Business, or a related field. A Master’s in Business Administration is a plus. You need at least eight years of sales experience in a bank or financial institution, with four of those years in a management role. Key skills include retail banking sales, customer experience, strategic management, leadership, and financial management. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities are also required.
