What the job is

This is a Financial Accountant position at Mezé Foods, a well-known South African company that makes award-winning Mediterranean foods like cheeses, dips, and olives. The company is based in Johannesburg South, Gauteng, and has been growing since 1974. They are looking for someone who wants to take charge of important financial tasks and help the business grow.

What you will do

You will prepare monthly financial reports, including management accounts, reconciliations, and trial balances. You will handle month-end and year-end financial processes to ensure everything is accurate. Managing cash flow forecasting and payment processes will be part of your role. You will also ensure the company follows VAT rules and other legal financial requirements. Maintaining the fixed asset register and general ledger will be your responsibility. Additionally, you will support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, while identifying trends and improving financial processes.

What you need

You must have a BCom degree in Accounting and at least 3 to 5 years of accounting experience in a busy work environment. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end processes is required. You should be skilled in Microsoft Excel and have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines is important. Having a SAIPA qualification or experience with Syspro ERP and audit preparation would be an advantage.
