What the job is

This is a permanent position for a Facilities Assistant at Huntswood, based in Cape Town, Western Cape. The role involves overseeing daily building checks and general maintenance for the company’s offices to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.

What you will do

You will assist with monitoring important systems like UPS units, HVAC systems, and generators. You will complete minor repair work such as fixing doors, locks, door frames, and handles. You will replace light bulbs, sockets, switches, and window glass as needed. You will perform basic plumbing tasks like unblocking drains and fixing leaking faucets and toilets. You will operate power tools like drills and grinders, handle hand tools, and maintain the toolbox. You will prepare workspaces, clean work areas and equipment, and install appliances like microwaves and kettles. You will also mount TVs, shelves, whiteboards, and picture frames. Additionally, you will set up and break down advisor or training desks and follow health and safety regulations.

What you need

You must have at least 18 months of experience working in facilities, preferably within a contact center. You need a Matric certificate or NQF4 qualification. Good written and verbal communication skills in English are essential. You should have basic knowledge of building systems like electrical and plumbing. Experience in general office duties and admin tasks is required. You must be physically fit, detail-oriented, and able to work overtime when needed. You should also have a good understanding of occupational health and safety practices.
