What the job is
A financial services company in Johannesburg, Gauteng, is looking for a Senior Server Engineer to join their team. You will work on their computer systems and cloud services to keep everything running smoothly and securely.

What you will do
- Manage and fix Windows servers, including setting them up, updating them, and making sure they work well.
- Handle Active Directory, which helps manage users and computers on the network.
- Troubleshoot email systems like Microsoft Exchange and make sure emails are sent and received correctly.
- Work with Microsoft 365, including email, Teams, and other online tools.
- Support cloud services in Azure and fix any issues with them.
- Manage virtual machines using VMware to keep them running efficiently.
- Work with storage systems and backups to protect important data.
- Help developers and other teams when they have problems with servers or applications.
- Monitor systems to catch and fix problems before they become big issues.
- Follow security rules to keep systems safe and compliant.
- Assist with disaster recovery plans to make sure the company can keep running if something goes wrong.

What you need
- At least 7 years of experience working with servers and computer systems.
- Strong skills in Windows Server and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and email systems.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and cloud services like Azure.
- Familiarity with VMware and virtual machines.
- Ability to work with developers and other teams to solve problems.
- Experience in a production environment with change control and incident management.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and act as a go-to person during outages.
