What the job is
A mining consulting company in Cape Town, Western Cape, needs a Senior Backend Developer. You will work on WIRE, a platform used by clients to run their mining operations. The job involves writing code in Python and GoLang. You will help move parts of the system from Python to GoLang.

What you will do
- Build and improve backend features using Python and GoLang.
- Write and update database changes carefully.
- Work on background tasks using tools like Celery.
- Write and improve SQL queries for large amounts of data.
- Create and maintain stable API endpoints.
- Help move existing services from Python to GoLang.
- Fix problems in the system, even under pressure.
- Write tests for your code to make sure it works well.
- Review other developers' code to keep it clean and easy to maintain.
- Find and fix technical problems before they become big issues.
- Write clear documents about how the system works.
- Help junior and mid-level developers learn and grow.
- Work with product, testing, and operations teams to understand needs.
- Improve how the team works together and the tools they use.

What you need
- At least 6 years of experience as a backend developer.
- Strong skills in Python, especially with Flask or similar tools.
- Experience with GoLang or the ability to learn it quickly.
- Good knowledge of databases and SQL.
- Experience with background job tools like Celery or RabbitMQ.
- Comfortable using Docker for development.
- Experience designing and improving APIs.
- Good with Git and code reviews.
