This job is for a Regional Technical Manager at CBRE Excellerate, a leading company in commercial real estate services and investments. Based in Lagos Island East, Lagos, this role focuses on managing technical operations for facilities management across Africa and the Middle East. The position requires strong technical expertise and the ability to work across multiple countries, especially those where French is the main language.

As the Regional Technical Manager, you will be the main technical expert for CBRE Excellerate’s Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) services for a key client. Your role involves handling all technical issues from start to finish, ensuring clear communication between CBRE’s teams and the client’s engineering team. You will provide expert guidance on engineering and facilities-related matters, translating complex technical problems into simple solutions for non-technical teams.

You will act as the first point of contact for all technical problems across the region, managing incidents and issues from reporting to resolution. This includes documenting incidents, investigating root causes, and ensuring long-term fixes are implemented. You will also review and approve technical solutions from contractors and vendors, ensuring they meet required standards.

Additionally, you will manage technical changes, such as power system upgrades, maintenance schedules, and safety procedures. You will work closely with the client’s engineering team, contractors, and CBRE’s delivery teams to ensure all technical work meets the client’s standards and contractual obligations. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing critical assets like generators, UPS systems, and HVAC systems, ensuring they comply with regulations and best practices.

To qualify for this role, you need a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, with a postgraduate qualification in Facilities or Engineering Management being a plus. At least 8 years of experience in technical facilities management or critical systems engineering is required, with a strong background in managing multi-site operations across Sub-Saharan Africa, especially Francophone countries.

You must be fluent in both French and English, able to communicate effectively in both languages without relying on translation. Strong technical knowledge in electrical engineering, power distribution, and critical facilities systems is essential. Experience with incident and problem management systems (like ServiceNow or Maximo) and familiarity with electrical protection studies (such as discrimination and arc flash assessments) is also important.

You should be a structured problem-solver with excellent communication skills, able to explain technical details clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ability to work independently across different time zones and countries, while maintaining strong relationships with clients and contractors, is crucial.
