This job is for a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic) at Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited in Sandown, Cape Town. The role involves working under the direct supervision of a pharmacist in a dispensary to provide excellent customer service and assist with pharmacy tasks. Key responsibilities include assisting with preparing, repackaging, and distributing medicines, reading and preparing prescriptions, and providing clear instructions to patients about medication use. You will also manage patient details, verify information, and ensure all medication is checked and signed off by a pharmacist. Additional tasks include sales, stock control, processing medical aid claims, and maintaining dispensary standards. Requirements include a Grade 12 certificate with at least 50% in Mathematics, Life Science, or Physical Science, a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification, and registration with the Pharmacy Council. Good communication, customer service focus, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are essential. A second language other than English and retail experience are advantageous. Must be physically fit for standing long hours, have a driver’s license or reliable transport, and be a South African citizen or have a valid work permit. Clear criminal and credit records are required.
