What the job is

This is a position for a Mechanical Project Engineer at Rosstone Professional Solutions in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The role involves supporting the company’s projects team to deliver various capital projects, with a main focus on mechanical engineering tasks. The job is permanent and based on-site in Johannesburg.

What you will do

You will lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from the initial concept stage all the way through to detailed design, construction, commissioning, and final handover. You will develop and oversee mechanical engineering design packages, including equipment specifications for static and rotating machinery, piping and valve specifications, mechanical datasheets, and drawings. You will also select materials and create corrosion control strategies. Additionally, you will coordinate with other engineering disciplines like Process, Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, and Civil teams to ensure all designs are well-integrated.

What you need

You must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) with Honours in Mechanical Engineering. You should be a Professional Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in project engineering. A Project Management certification or qualification is required, along with a proven track record of managing multiple projects and working with both internal and external stakeholders. Strong design and engagement skills, self-motivation, and a focus on delivering projects on time are essential.

What you will get

The salary for this position ranges from R70,000 to R90,000 per year. It is a permanent, full-time role offering the opportunity to work on strategic projects in the chemicals industry.
