What the job is

This is a job for a Mechanical Project Engineer at Rosstone Professional Solutions, based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The role involves supporting the company’s Group Corporate Projects Department to deliver various capital projects, with a strong emphasis on mechanical engineering tasks. The work follows best practices in engineering and project management to ensure successful project completion.

What you will do

You will lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from the initial concept stage through to detailed design, construction, commissioning, and final handover. This includes developing and overseeing mechanical engineering design packages such as equipment specifications for static and rotating machinery, piping and valve specifications, mechanical datasheets, and drawings like general arrangement drawings, isometrics, and layouts. You will also select materials and create corrosion control strategies. Additionally, you will coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines like Process, Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, and Civil to ensure all designs are well-integrated.

What you need

You must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) with Honours in Mechanical Engineering. You should be a Professional Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in project engineering. A certification or qualification in management is required, along with a proven track record in project management, including the ability to handle multiple projects with both internal and external stakeholders. Strong design skills, engagement abilities, self-motivation, and a focus on delivering strategic projects on time are essential.

What you will get

The salary for this permanent position ranges between R70,000 and R90,000 per year. This is a full-time role offering the opportunity to work on impactful projects in the chemicals industry.
