What the job is

This is an apprenticeship position for a Learner Artisan specializing in Instrumentation at Eskom, a major electricity and energy company. The job is based at Koeberg Power Station in Cape Town, Western Cape. It is part of Eskom’s training program to develop skilled workers in the field of instrumentation, which involves working with control systems and measurement tools used in power generation.

What you will do

You will receive structured training both in a classroom setting and on the job. This training will prepare you to work with instrumentation systems at Eskom’s power stations. You will learn how to install, maintain, and repair instruments that measure and control processes in power generation. You will also develop skills in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving as part of your daily tasks.

What you need

To qualify, you must be a South African citizen. You need one of the following educational backgrounds: a National N6 Certificate with trade subjects in Measurement, Control, and Instrumentation, or a National N4/N5 Certificate with trade subjects. Alternatively, a Grade 12 certificate with at least 50% in Pure Maths, 50% in Physical Science, and 40% in English is acceptable. An N3 certificate or NCV Level 4 with the same subject requirements also qualifies. You should be a team player, have strong integrity, and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
