What the job is

This is a Junior Compliance Officer position at Adams Adams, a legal firm based in Pretoria, Gauteng. The role is permanent and involves supporting the compliance manager in ensuring the company follows all relevant laws and regulations.

What you will do

You will help the compliance manager identify, assess, and monitor risks related to compliance. This includes checking company processes, documents, and business activities to find gaps or issues. You will investigate and resolve any non-compliant activities and assist in training employees. You will also stay updated on local and international standards and regulations, such as privacy laws (POPIA and GDPR), FICA, B-BBEE, anti-corruption, and client compliance. Specific tasks include conducting compliance monitoring, maintaining records of data processing, performing due diligence reviews, onboarding customers, submitting reports, updating B-BBEE scorecards, and completing client questionnaires.

What you need

You must have at least one year of work experience and knowledge in at least one of the compliance areas mentioned. Experience in interpreting regulatory requirements is required. You should be self-motivated, independent, and have strong communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to explain complex issues in simple terms and pay close attention to detail is essential. You must also be fluent in English and able to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
