What the job is

This is a leadership role at SAFAL Group in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where you will lead the company’s efforts to become a key supplier of steel products and building solutions to the mining industry in East Africa. You will work closely with mine engineers and procurement teams to sell a wide range of steel products, including sheets, pipes, and specialized underground support systems, as well as pre-engineered buildings and modular housing.

What you will do

You will travel frequently to remote mine sites in Tanzania, DRC, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda to build strong relationships with decision-makers and ensure SAFAL Group is registered as a preferred supplier. You will personally sell steel products like hot-rolled sheets, coated metals, pipes, and structural steel, as well as advise customers on the best materials for their needs. You will manage the entire tender process, from identifying opportunities to submitting bids, and coordinate logistics to deliver products on time to remote locations. You will also lead a cross-border sales team, set targets, review performance, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

What you need

You must have a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering and at least 10 years of experience, with 3–5 years in technical sales or site engineering in the mining or heavy industrial sector. You should have a proven track record in breaking into new markets, managing high-value tenders, and leading a distributed sales team across multiple countries. Strong technical skills, such as reading structural blueprints and providing on-site guidance, are essential, along with excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
