What the job is: This job is for a Fire Sales Engineer at Fidelity Services Group, based in Cape Town, Western Cape. You will work in the fire protection industry, focusing on selling and supporting fire detection, alarm, and gas suppression systems. Your role will involve understanding customer needs, designing fire safety solutions, and working closely with clients and project teams.

What you will do: You will be responsible for finding and developing new business opportunities in areas like commercial buildings, industrial sites, mining, healthcare facilities, data centers, and logistics. This includes reaching out to potential clients through networking, cold calling, and visiting sites to understand their needs.

You will also provide technical support by visiting sites to assess risks, designing fire protection systems that meet legal standards, and creating detailed proposals and quotes. Your work will include explaining how different fire detection and gas suppression systems work, such as addressable fire detection, aspirating smoke detection (VESDA), beam detection, and gas suppression systems like Novec 1230 or FM-200.

Another key part of your job is managing quotations and tenders. You will prepare cost estimates, review tender documents to ensure compliance, negotiate prices, and finalize contracts with clients. Once a project is awarded, you will work with project managers to ensure a smooth handover, attend kick-off meetings, and help resolve any technical issues during installation.

Finally, you will ensure all solutions meet legal requirements like SANS 10139, SANS 14520, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. You will also stay updated on industry changes and new regulations.

What you need: To do this job, you need at least 3 to 5 years of experience in technical sales within the fire protection industry. Experience with fire detection systems and gaseous fire suppression systems is essential. You should have a proven record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

You will need knowledge of fire protection brands like Ziton, Advanced, Kentec, Siemens, Autronica, and Notifier, as well as systems like VESDA, Inergen, Novec 1230, and FM-200. Being able to read and understand technical drawings and SANS standards is also important.

Certifications like SAQCC designer or fire detection and gas suppression qualifications will be a plus. You should be comfortable using Microsoft Office, AutoCAD (if possible), CRM systems, and estimating software. A valid driver’s license is required, and you must be able to work independently while managing multiple projects.

What you will get: While the salary range is not mentioned, this is a permanent full-time position with opportunities for growth in a well-established company. The role offers a chance to work in a dynamic industry, collaborate with technical teams, and contribute to important safety solutions. Fidelity Services Group also supports diversity and encourages applications from historically disadvantaged candidates, with priority given to Black female candidates as per their transformation policy.
