What the job is

This is a position for a Fire Access and Security Assistant at Bidvest Facilities Management, based in Pretoria, Gauteng. The role involves ensuring that fire safety and access control procedures are followed correctly within the company’s facilities to maintain a secure and safe environment for everyone.

What you will do

You will monitor fire access points to make sure they meet safety regulations and company policies. You will help conduct regular safety audits and inspections to find and fix potential hazards. You will keep and update records related to fire safety compliance and access control measures. You will organize training sessions for staff on fire safety procedures and emergency evacuation plans. You will respond to security incidents and emergencies, documenting actions and following up as needed. You will work with external safety and emergency services to ensure compliance and participate in safety exercises. You will also implement security measures to protect company assets and personnel from theft or damage and assist in preparing reports on fire safety and security initiatives.

What you need

You should have experience in a fire safety or security role, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting. You need knowledge of fire safety standards, emergency response procedures, and access control systems. Strong organizational skills are required to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for interacting with different stakeholders. A problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining safety standards is important. Certification in fire safety management or security operations is a plus. Experience with emergency planning and familiarity with relevant legislation is also beneficial. Training in first aid or crisis management would be an advantage.
