What the job is

This is a Cryptography Engineer (Backend Developer) position at Araxi Group (Dariel) in Bramley, Gauteng. The company specializes in payment security and is looking for someone to help design and build secure systems that protect financial transactions. This is a permanent role where you will work on advanced cryptography and backend engineering for payment solutions.

What you will do

You will design and develop cryptographic services and secure backend systems. You will integrate applications with enterprise Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and manage cryptographic keys. You will work with payment security technologies like PIN Blocks, DUKPT, CVV/CVC, PVV, and EMV. You will implement industry standards such as TR-31 and TR-34. You will also investigate security incidents, review code for security issues, and collaborate with clients on technical projects. Additionally, you will research new cryptographic technologies and create technical documentation.

What you need

You need a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, or a related field. You must have at least 2 years of experience in software engineering, cryptography, or security roles. Strong knowledge of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, AES, RSA, ECC, hashing, HMAC, and key management is required. Experience with payment HSMs, TR-31, TR-34, PIN block formats, DUKPT, and EMV cryptography is essential. Proficiency in programming languages like TypeScript, Java, Go, C/C++, or Python is needed. Experience with backend development, REST APIs, Linux, and Git is also required.
