What the job is

This is a Collections Manager position at MVIA, a company based in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, Western Cape. The role involves leading the collections team and managing the entire process of recovering outstanding payments from customers. You will be responsible for setting goals, creating strategies, and ensuring all activities follow the law and company policies.

What you will do

You will set and meet monthly, quarterly, and annual targets for recovering money and reducing overdue payments. You will lead, train, and motivate the collections team, assigning tasks and monitoring their performance. You will analyze data to spot trends, risks, and opportunities, then use these insights to improve collection strategies. You will prepare reports for senior management and ensure all collection activities comply with laws like the National Credit Act and Consumer Protection Act. You will also manage systems, handle customer complaints, and work on improving processes and technology for collections.

What you need

You must have a Matric certificate and a relevant tertiary qualification in Credit Management, Business Management, or a related field. A degree or postgraduate qualification is a plus. You need at least 5 to 7 years of experience in collections or credit management, with at least 3 years in a management role. You should have experience with collections systems, dialler technology, and advanced Excel or BI tools. Knowledge of South African laws related to credit, debt collection, and consumer protection is required.
