What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Blasting Foreman at Tharisa Minerals, located in the North West province. The company is in the mining industry and is looking for someone to oversee and manage blasting operations on-site.

What you will do

You will supervise all blasting activities to ensure they follow the weekly plan and meet production targets. This includes checking that holes are drilled correctly, charged properly, and that all blasting equipment is well-maintained. You will lead the blasting team, enforce safety rules, and conduct risk assessments before any blasting begins. You will also monitor costs, track daily progress, and report on any issues like misfires or cracks. Additionally, you will ensure all health and safety regulations are followed, update safety procedures, and train staff to reduce risks. You will review geological data to plan the best drilling and blasting methods and manage relationships with stakeholders to improve teamwork.

What you need

You must have a Grade 12 certificate (Matric) and a Blasting Certificate or equivalent qualification in Surface Mining. You also need a Competent 'A' certificate, a valid First Aid certificate, a Fire Fighting certificate, and proof of being a Production Foreman. You should have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in open-cast mining, with at least 2 years as a blaster. Experience as a Production Foreman and familiarity with tools like MS Dynamics and Power BI will be an advantage. You must be medically fit to work in this role.
