What the job is

This is a position for an Assistant Resident Engineer specializing in roads. The job is with a well-known civil engineering consulting company based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The company is looking for someone to work on large road infrastructure projects in the city.

What you will do

You will assist in managing and supervising major road construction and upgrade projects. You will ensure that construction work follows the correct methods and meets quality standards. You will oversee site activities, manage contractors, and monitor project timelines. You will also prepare reports and communicate progress to stakeholders.

What you need

You must have a degree in Civil Engineering (BSc, BEng, or BTech) or a related qualification. You need at least 10 years of experience in road construction and infrastructure projects. You should have worked on major road upgrades before. You must be professionally registered as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng with ECSA. Strong knowledge of road construction methods, site supervision, and contractor management is required. Good communication and reporting skills are also essential.
