What the job is

This is a job for a Resident Engineer specializing in Structures. The role is part of a major road upgrade project on the N3 in Pinetown, Durban. The position is offered by RPO Recruitment and involves working on-site to oversee structural construction activities for this important infrastructure project.

What you will do

You will provide technical leadership and supervision for all structural construction work. This includes ensuring that construction follows approved designs, specifications, and quality standards. You will monitor progress, coordinate contractors and subcontractors, and review construction methods and documentation. You will also solve technical problems, ensure compliance with safety and environmental rules, and maintain accurate site records and reports. Additionally, you will attend site meetings and communicate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.

What you need

You must have a degree in Civil Engineering, such as a BEng, BSc Eng, or BTech. You need to be professionally registered with ECSA as either a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng). You should have at least 20 years of experience in major road upgrade projects, with a strong background in structural works. Good project coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills are also required.
