What the job is

This is a job for an Assistant Resident Engineer specializing in roads. The position is with a well-known civil engineering consulting company based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The company is looking for someone to work on big road and infrastructure projects in the city.

What you will do

You will help manage and supervise road construction projects. You will make sure construction work follows the right methods and meets quality standards. You will oversee contractors and ensure they stick to the project schedule. You will also handle reporting and communication for the project. Your role will include checking that all construction activities meet the required specifications.

What you need

You must have a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, such as a BSc, BEng, or BTech. You need at least 10 years of experience working on road construction and infrastructure projects. You should have worked on major road upgrades before. You must be registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Technologist Engineer (Pr Tech Eng) with ECSA. Strong knowledge of road construction methods, site supervision, and managing construction quality and programs is required. You also need excellent communication and reporting skills.
