What the job is

This is a job for an Assistant Resident Engineer specializing in roads. The position is with a well-known civil engineering consulting firm based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The company is looking for someone to work on big road and infrastructure projects in the city.

What you will do

You will help manage and supervise road construction projects. You will ensure that construction work follows the correct methods and meets quality standards. You will oversee contractors and make sure the project stays on schedule. You will also prepare reports and communicate updates to the team and clients.

What you need

You must have a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, such as a BSc, BEng, or BTech. You need at least 10 years of experience working on road construction and infrastructure projects, including major road upgrades. You must be registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Technologist Engineer (Pr Tech Eng) with ECSA. You should have strong knowledge of road construction methods, site supervision, and managing construction quality, programs, and contractors. Good communication and reporting skills are also required.
