What the job is

The South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) is hiring a Specialist Systems Analyst for their Strategy, Project Management, and Business Analysis Office (SProMBA) in Cape Town. This role involves working on business systems development and support, ensuring efficient and service-oriented solutions for the organization.

What you will do

You will analyze system requirements and identify solutions to meet business needs. You will write functional specifications, configure systems, and test developments as part of projects. You will also provide second-line production support, handle system support requests, and troubleshoot issues. Additionally, you will train users on how to use software effectively and engage with stakeholders to understand their system and process requirements. You will support project deliverables and milestones across multiple projects.

What you need

You must have a Bachelor’s Degree or BTech (NQF level 7) in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. You need at least four years of experience in system development and support, including hands-on experience with package or ERP systems. Experience in designing, developing, and implementing systems is required. Knowledge of Converis, Pentaho, or Web Development, as well as SQL, XML, or Linux command line, would be beneficial. Experience in the public sector or research administration is a plus.
