What the job is

This is a role for a Senior Production Pharmacist at Fresenius Kabi, a global healthcare company with over 40,500 employees worldwide. The job is based at the manufacturing plant in Port Elizabeth, which produces small and large volume parenteral medications.

What you will do

You will coordinate the entire Small Volume Parenteral filling production process from a pharmaceutical perspective. Your daily tasks will include reviewing the production schedule, solving pharmaceutical problems, and reporting to the Department Manager. You will also perform pharmacy duties, assist supervisors with staff training, and update department procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices. Additionally, you will ensure production targets are met, maintain compliance with factory rules, and handle batch documentation and audits. You will support investigations, manage change controls, and assist with deviations and corrective actions. Occasionally, you may stand in for supervisors and perform other related tasks as needed.

What you need

You must have a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and be registered as a Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council. You need at least 4-5 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with specific skills in Small Volume Parenteral processes. Strong production management, human resources, and aseptic manufacturing knowledge are required. You should also understand quality investigations, risk assessments, deviations, and change controls, as well as production planning processes.
