What the job is

This is a Senior Clerk (Expenditure) position at iLembe District Municipality, located in the iLembe area of KwaZulu-Natal. It is a permanent job in the government sector, and the role focuses on managing financial tasks related to expenditure and cash flow.

What you will do

You will coordinate the investment of funds by working with different banks to request investment quotes and getting approval to invest the municipality’s money. You will also manage cash by processing transfers between banks. Another key task is entering bank and cash-related financial transactions into the Munsoft financial system. You will maintain and handle petty cash, as well as create manual invoices for external parties. Additionally, you will help implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and keep accurate records and filing systems for all financial transactions.

What you need

To qualify, you must have a Grade 12 Certificate and a National Diploma in Public Finance Management and Administration, or an equivalent qualification with majors in Accounting or Management Accounting. You need at least one year of experience in Finance Administration. Computer skills, especially in MS Excel and financial systems, are required. A driver’s licence is not mandatory but will be an advantage. You should also have the knowledge, skills, and behaviour suitable for a finance environment.
