What the job is

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Retail Store Assistant to join their team at the Corkwood store in Kariega/Uitenhage, Eastern Cape. This is a permanent position where you will help manage the daily operations and administrative tasks of the store according to company policies and procedures.

What you will do

You will handle customer complaints and compliments and report them to management. You will build professional relationships with customers and resolve any stock-related queries they may have. You will manage cash transactions, including handling shortages, overs, floats, refunds, and returns. You will verify deliveries and invoices for accuracy and assist with preparing claims for the Distribution Centre. You will also control high-risk stock, prepare daily cash reconciliations, and ensure cashiers have enough change for smooth customer service. Additionally, you will maintain proper document control for floats, petty cash, and cash on hand.

What you need

You must have a Matric certificate (Grade 12) and basic computer skills, including knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and SAP. Previous retail experience is required. You should have strong retail administration and operational knowledge, be a team player with good customer relations, and possess leadership and management skills. You must be trustworthy, honest, able to work under pressure, and meet deadlines. A valid driver’s license or reliable transport, a clear criminal and credit record, and South African citizenship are also required.
