What the job is

This is a job for an R&D Chemist Manager at a leading South African consumer goods manufacturer. The company is based in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal. You will be responsible for leading product development and innovation in the creation of cosmetic and personal care products.

What you will do

You will design and develop new cosmetic and personal care products from the initial concept to the final product. You will manage and mentor a team of scientists in the laboratory to ensure they work efficiently and safely. You will oversee projects from the development stage to full production, making sure they meet deadlines and quality standards. You will ensure all materials and products follow local and international regulations. You will also work with suppliers to evaluate new materials and reduce costs without affecting product quality.

What you need

You must have a degree in Chemistry or Cosmetic Science, preferably a Bachelor of Science (BSc). You need experience in developing formulas for cosmetics or personal care products. You should have a background in managing laboratory teams and R&D operations. You must understand raw material interactions, testing methods, and regulatory requirements. Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills are also required.
