What the job is
This is a Programme Manager position at the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa), based in the North West province. The role involves overseeing and managing the delivery of Necsa’s programmes to ensure they meet the required scope, quality, cost, and schedule targets.

What you will do
You will develop systems to implement and execute various programmes. You will plan and manage projects to align with Necsa’s strategic goals. You will build and maintain relationships with government departments and industry stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration. You will support senior management in implementing decisions related to strategic projects. You will manage the collection and analysis of client and stakeholder requirements, as well as identify, acquire, and lead the programme management team. You will develop strategies for risk, quality, configuration, and communication management. You will oversee the creation of programme plans, including scope, cost, schedule, risk, human resources, procurement, and stakeholder management. You will manage programme baselines, risk registers, procurement plans, and contract negotiations. You will ensure compliance with Necsa’s safety, health, environment, and quality standards. You will monitor programme spending, report expenses, and ensure adherence to approved budgets. You will also mentor and supervise project managers and contractors to maintain a productive work environment.

What you need
You need a BTech in Engineering or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. A Project Management Certificate (such as PMP or PRINCE2) is an advantage. You must have at least 7 to 8 years of proven experience in managing multi-disciplinary programmes, preferably in an engineering or scientific environment. You should have knowledge of nuclear technology, safety and quality management systems, costing principles, and nuclear liabilities management. Strong skills in strategic planning, problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership are essential.
