What the job is

This is a full-time position for a Product Manager specializing in Platform and Transactions at Lesaka Technologies, based in Plattekloof, Western Cape. The company is a fast-growing fintech that provides financial services like banking, lending, payments, and cash management to businesses and consumers across Southern Africa. The role focuses on managing the core systems that power all transactions, ensuring they work smoothly and efficiently.

What you will do

You will be responsible for improving transaction success rates, reducing delays, and ensuring high uptime across all product areas. You will manage the integration of new payment methods, partner APIs, and systems to make onboarding faster and more reliable. You will define technical requirements like system speed, capacity, and backup plans for the engineering team to follow. You will compare Lesaka’s transaction systems against industry standards and work to close any gaps in speed, reliability, or payment options. You will also work to lower costs by optimizing how transactions are processed and recovered when issues arise. Additionally, you will identify and prioritize systemic reliability problems over one-time incidents.

What you need

You need at least 3 years of experience in product management, specifically in platform, payments, transactions, or infrastructure products. You should have a strong understanding of how transactions flow through systems and how integrations work. The ability to analyze transaction and failure data to create a prioritized roadmap is essential. You must be comfortable working closely with engineering teams to make architectural decisions without directly managing the development process. A mindset focused on reliability and cost-efficiency, treating uptime and cost savings as key product features, is also required. Experience with payment switches, aggregators, or token vending, as well as high-volume, low-latency environments, would be beneficial.
