What the job is

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a qualified Pharmacist Assistant to work at their new store in Pinelands, Cape Town. This role involves helping patients with their medicine needs and ensuring they receive the correct treatment. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist in a retail pharmacy setting.

What you will do

You will assist with selling Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines and help prepare, compound, and package non-sterile medicines according to approved procedures. You will also handle the distribution and stock control of medicines, process prescriptions, and ensure accurate labelling and supply of medication. Additional tasks include capturing patient details, verifying medical aid claims, advising patients on medicine use, and maintaining stock levels. You will also assist with stock takes, customer service, and administrative tasks like processing paperwork for medical aid claims.

What you need

You must have a Matric certificate and a Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification. You need to be registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and have experience using Unisolv. Strong computer skills, especially in MS Office, and good numerical abilities are required. You should be fluent in English and at least one other language, and you must be willing to work retail hours. Knowledge of retail operations, SAP, E-Scripting, and additional languages is a plus.
