As a Mathematics Lecturer, your main job will be to teach mathematics-related modules for a set number of hours each week. You will follow the module schedule and ensure students understand the material using teaching guides. You will prepare students for exams, identify struggling students, and support their improvement. You will also collaborate with the Academic Team to develop and refine assessments, track student progress, attend academic meetings, and analyze results to improve module effectiveness. Additionally, you will identify at-risk students and provide necessary support. Professional development activities will be part of your role to enhance teaching skills and stay updated with new methods.

To qualify, you should ideally have a Bachelor of Science Honours or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science, with at least two years of experience teaching mathematics modules with an analytics focus. Experience as a data analyst or data scientist is advantageous. You must provide a copy of your academic transcript. Familiarity with the South African higher education system and teaching methods is required. Strong student support skills, proficiency with digital learning tools, and adaptability are essential. Ability to follow rules, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively is also important.

The salary for this position is market-related, with working hours depending on the modules taught, typically from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
