What the job is: This is a part-time teaching position for a Lecturer in Experience Design 1A at Advtech’s Emeris campus in Cape Town. Emeris is a group that brings together IIE Varsity College, IIE MSA, IIE-Vega School, and IIE School of Hospitality & Service Management, all working together to provide high-quality education and support to students. The role is focused on delivering a specific design module during Semester 1.

What you will do: As a Lecturer, you will prepare and deliver lectures based on the provided course content, but you are also encouraged to add your own expertise to make the lessons more engaging. Your main tasks will include teaching the assigned module to meet the set learning outcomes within the agreed hours. You will mark student assignments and give helpful feedback to help them improve. If needed, you will organize workshops to support students’ academic success. Other responsibilities include handling administrative tasks like recording assessment marks and reporting on student progress. You will also review and improve course materials and take part in professional development opportunities, including initial training sessions.

What you need: To qualify for this role, you should ideally have an NQF Level 8 qualification (or higher) in Information Design, Digital Design, or Multimedia Design. A strong understanding of visual design principles—like color, shape, and layout—is essential. You must have a portfolio that shows your design skills and your ability to handle basic to intermediate design challenges. Alternatively, if you have an NQF Level 8 qualification in Graphic Design or Communication Design, you should have at least two years of experience working as a digital designer in a studio or advertising agency. Again, a portfolio demonstrating your design skills and problem-solving abilities is required.
