What the job is

This is a full-time position for a News Reporter at eMedia Investments, based in Johannesburg North, Gauteng. The role involves gathering, investigating, and presenting news stories across television, digital platforms, and social media. The reporter will work in a fast-paced newsroom to deliver accurate, engaging, and timely news to the public.

What you will do

You will research and verify news stories to ensure they are factual and balanced. You will create news reports for television, digital platforms, and social media, including live broadcasts, recorded segments, and written articles. You will respond quickly to breaking news and update stories as they develop. You will conduct interviews with sources, experts, and eyewitnesses to gather information. You will collaborate with camera operators, editors, and producers to produce high-quality news content. You will also maintain professional relationships with stakeholders and represent the company in a positive manner.

What you need

You must have a National Senior Certificate (Matric) and a National Diploma in Media Studies, Television, Journalism, or Communications. You need at least 5 years of experience in news, television, or broadcast journalism. A valid Code B driver’s license is required. You should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have intermediate knowledge of newsroom systems like Dalet. Strong English language skills are essential, along with attention to detail, decision-making abilities, and the ability to work under pressure.
