What the job is

This is a permanent position for a Meter Reading Officer at Eskom, a company that provides electricity, energy, and water supply services. The job is based in Witbank, also known as Emalahleni, in the Mpumalanga province. The role focuses on managing meter reading and customer service tasks in a specific area to ensure accurate billing and efficient service delivery.

What you will do

You will manage meter reading and measurement tasks in a defined geographic area. You will supervise general activities related to customer service and meter reading. You will provide accurate customer data and handle generic service activities. You will build and maintain relationships between Eskom and its customers. You will also manage credit, revenue, and billing processes, as well as vending and prepaid activities. Additionally, you will oversee quotation and connection services for customers.

What you need

You need a National Diploma or N Diploma in Business Management, Engineering, Commerce, or Finance at NQF Level 6 with 240 credits. You must have at least 3 years of experience working with customers and customer relations. You should have a valid driver’s license, strong communication skills, and computer literacy. Knowledge of customer relationship management, low voltage maintenance, safety training, and organizational processes is required. Leadership skills such as teamwork, coaching, and mentoring are also important.
