This job is for a Maintenance Technician at Wembley Square, a gym and wellness club run by Virgin Active. You will be responsible for keeping the club’s equipment, facilities, and pool in good working order. The role is based in Cape Town, Western Cape, and is a permanent position.

What you will do:
- Handle all preventative maintenance and repairs for the club’s equipment, including air conditioning, gym machines, and other facilities.
- Follow a set schedule to check and fix issues before they become serious.
- Report problems to the Club General Manager or Operations Manager.
- Use the maintenance log system to track faults.
- Fix issues yourself when possible, ensuring everything meets the club’s brand standards.
- Work closely with contractors and the landlord to manage repairs and maintenance for the building itself.
- Check gym equipment regularly, ensure it is well-maintained, and keep records of all maintenance work.
- Inspect the club daily to identify maintenance tasks (cleaning, repairs, or adjustments).
- Manage pool maintenance: check water quality, record key readings, dose the pool correctly, and ensure the pool area is clean and safe.
- Manage health and safety requirements, ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Assist with developing and following up on repair action plans (RAP).
- Manage contractors to ensure their work is done correctly and safely.
- Track budgets for maintenance and repairs.
- Manage a maintenance team: set tasks, check quality, and ensure proper training and equipment.
- Handle staffing needs, including shift rosters and new staff training.

What you need:

- Basic understanding of maintenance, repairs, and equipment upkeep.
- Hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills for working with contractors, managers, and teams.
