What the job is: This is a great opportunity for someone who has recently finished a Desktop Publishing (DTP) course and wants to gain real-world experience in a busy printing shop. Colour Domain Printing, based in Durban North, is looking for a Junior DTP Operator who will also assist at the shopfront. What you will do: As a Junior DTP Operator, you will work directly with customers to understand their printing needs. Your main tasks will include preparing digital artwork for printing, ensuring files are correctly formatted and ready for production. You will also help coordinate print orders, making sure everything runs smoothly from start to finish. Additionally, you will assist with the actual printing process and any finishing touches, like cutting, folding, or binding printed materials. Since you will also be at the shopfront, you may need to handle customer inquiries, take orders, and provide advice on printing options.

What you need: To qualify for this role, you must have a formal qualification or certification in Adobe Creative Suite, which is the industry-standard software for design and publishing. Matric (Grade 12) is the minimum education requirement. You should have a strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, as this is essential for creating and editing vector graphics. Basic knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign is also important, as these programs are commonly used in print production. Good communication and customer-service skills are a must, since you will interact with clients regularly. Attention to detail is critical, as even small errors in artwork can affect the final printed product. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are just as important, as you will receive training on the job.
